DR TARA WALKER, OSTEOPATH
B Clin Sci (Ost), M Ost Med, BA/LLB (Hons)

I’m Tara. I live and work on Bundjalung Country in Byron Bay, New South Wales.

I am passionate about providing holistic, individualised health care. My toolkit includes Osteopathy, Clinical Pilates, Yoga, Pranayama and Meditation. Over the past fifteen years, I have delved deeply into these modalities.

I found Yoga and Pilates during my late teens and early adulthood. These became my passions and my personal tools for wellbeing for life.

I initially decided to follow my passion for law and justice and worked as a Commercial Litigation Lawyer in a large Sydney firm and large Australian company for many years.

After doing this, I realised that my true calling was in healing (not suing!), so I took a bold leap and went back to university to embark on the five-year journey to become an Osteopath.

I completed a Bachelor of Clinical Sciences with a double major in Osteopathic Studies and Human Structure and Function (2014), followed by a Master of Osteopathic Medicine (2016) both at Southern Cross University in Lismore. I was awarded the Dux of both courses.

I have since worked as an Osteopath in both the Northern Rivers and in multidisciplinary clinics in Sydney’s Northern Beaches and Eastern Suburbs.

During and since university, I have also continued my learning through courses with many of my mentors. This has included specific training in paediatrics/babies, women’s health, cranial and visceral osteopathy, neuroscience and neuroplasticity, and dynamic neuromuscular stabilisation (surfing focused).

My passion for Yoga and Pilates has led me to undertake many years of dedicated study of both. This has included trainings in Ashtanga Yoga, Yoga Synergy, Akhanda Hatha Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Advanced Vinyasa Yoga, Yoga for Families and Kids, Pranayama, Meditation, Mat Pilates and Clinical Rehabilitation Pilates. I have taught yoga since 2009 and pilates since 2014 in studios in Sydney and Byron Bay.

I have also studied Neurolinguistic Programming and Life Coaching.

I like to draw on this whole broad toolkit to give people the most holistic, patient centred health care experience possible.

Outside of work, I love dancing, music, surfing, community work and immersing in nature.
